Hello everyone! So, some of you may not know this but I am currently in the middle of moving to San Diego, CA from Los Angeles for specific reasons I have not disclosed yet. BUT- while house hunting, I had some time to kill in Downtown San Diego and I decided to stay at the U.S. Grant Hotel on 4th and Broadway. And let me just tell you, this place is absolutely AMAZING. From the decor, to the building itself, the cleanliness, the service, the staff, the food, to the amenities. One of the best hotels Iv ever stayed in.
REVIEW: The hotel itself is 102 years old, and has been restored to its original condition and spiced up a little bit with some modern, but vintage inspired decor. Very muted, dove grays, and warm woods with white walls, crown moldings and pure white bedding. The special touch of hand painted custom art is a major plus as well. Really adds to the luxury feel of the experience.
SERVICE: The valet service took care of a super huge issue that I had the first night. I had a rental car and a big 25' U-Haul truck with a full house worth of furniture in it. The hotel itself doesn't have valet, but ACE Valet is a contracted company that works for the hotel. I noticed that there were empty parking lots on either side of the hotel labeled ACE as the company, and I decided to park there and let the valet know that I was checking in, and they said they'd take care of the truck, that it wasn't a problem. Well, the next morning, the entire truck was towed due to poor communication from the valet to the morning parking attendant in the side lot. In less than 8 hours they paid the tow fees (over $500) and got the truck out with no issues, and I decided to park the truck at the UHaul facility down the street so that didn't happen again. Easy breezy.
I decided to extend my stay a couple more days, and mind you- this is a resort luxury hotel and my mother and grandmother are staying with me, with 5 cats. They charged us a one time animal liability fee and were totally okay with us having the cats here. So hard to find, in the city none the less. So without hesitation I will recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a quality, well maintained and AAA serviced hotel. Its absolutely worth the money spent. Each night was about $350 plus the $150 animal fee.
CONS: I will say, that their service is a little delayed. Every time iv asked for either towels or toilet paper, its taken minimum an hour unless I caught the lady in the hallway. Thats the only downfall. Everything else, A+.
THE FOOD: Absolutely delicious and well presented. I went to the in house restaurant that they have here called THE GRANT GRILL and I got a refreshing plate of pasta, completely vegetarian, and the setting in the restaurant was very upscale and classy. The ambiance was comforting and intimate. Extra points for having a super creative and unique centerpiece that was real flowers. Haha me and my flowers. There is a mall right across the the street that has awesome sales and stores that I definitely raided and will be posting about (obviously).
EXTRA PERK: The men are polite (and really hot). And the people have manners. UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE.
If you end up visiting San Diego, and find yourself staying here, please let me know how your experience was! I stayed in a two bed suite and was very comfortable. I know you'll love it! Close to everything and the weather has been out of this world. Needless to say, I'm a happy girl!
Next post will be about the new cribo and the decor I'm furnishing it with! SO EXCITED to show you guys! Love you all <3
