Hey babes! Ok, so I decided to start having strictly smoothies for breakfast because my stomach is pretty sensitive. It can't have anything super heavy or hard to process too early or ill feel sick, start getting the shakes, and crash pretty hard. Even if its just an egg. So I was like, I can't NOT eat, and I can't eat a lot or solid foods. So how about I take things that are super healthy and process them BEFORE I put them into my body?! YES. I shall do that. So dats wut I deeeeed.
This smoothie is so great in so many ways. First and foremost, the ingredients are kale, banana, avocado, honey crisp apple, cucumber, coconut water with pulp, agave & almond milk. So you can already imagine the benefits this little cup of greens contains. But ill just add to it and remind you so you can understand the hype.
I call it natures Metamucil. Its fibrous characteristics and Iron is essential for our body to function. Its perfect for cold season when you need to cleanse and get in your minerals to stay healthy and energized! Also, when you get sick, you're always told to "get it out" no matter what end its coming out of (TMI I KNOW JUST BARE WITH ME KTHX). So, with that being said, you need to cleanse your colon. Most sickness starts with what you ingest whether it be a growing problem from not feeding your body correctly over time, or something you eat and your body didn't agree with it, or touching something with germs and it going in your nose, eyes, or mouth and now you have to deal with that nasty ass shit. Either way, you have to cleanse your body as fast as you can while putting the nutrients and minerals BACK into your body and making sure you're not malnourished or dehydrated. Hence, why you eat vegetable soups and are instructed to drink LOTS of fluids when you're sick. Kale will not only clear you out, it will enrich your entire body with minerals AND it will kick whatever toxins that are in your body out. Quickly.
It contains protein and is full of potassium which is perfect for those who are prone to muscle cramps and/or menstrual cramps. (Going back to kale) Kale is also something essential for women who have "heavy flows" during that time of the month due to losing so much blood. In this case, you should also add Chlorophyll to the smoothie to help rebuild your white blood cells and regulate your pH. You must replenish your body with Iron so you don't become anemic. Bananas are also a perfect form of fiber (and then some) alone even if you don't put it in a smoothie! But I added it for the obvious benefits, and also to sweeten it up as well as make it more creamy texture wise so I could enjoy the cup of greens more than I would without it :)
Three words. Essential Fatty acids. SO IMPORTANT. Your body can't produce them on their own and they HAVE to come from your diet, Your "Omegas" as you might be more familiar with. They're needed for healthy functioning of your nervous system and the development of it and your brain. Its great for having a properly nourished thyroid and adrenal cavity, as well as healthy skin and hair. These are only a few of what they're essentially needed for but avocado is my favorite way to obtain them! It also makes the smoothie SUPER creamy and more wholesome in taste.
Cucumbers flush out toxins as well as keep you hydrated. Cuts cancer risks and has a load of magnesium, potassium and silicon which are great for your skin, hair and nails. Aids in weight loss and is a light veggie so its not hard to eat at all. And I'm sure we can all agree cucumber is one of the most refreshing veggies out there! Perfect for the morning time.
Coconut water is essential due to its electrolytes and when you're trying to hydrate, it absorbs into your body faster than water. Its also got an amazing refreshing taste to add into smoothies or to have alone and is a great beauty trick to have glowing skin!
I added almond milk for its nutty flavor as well as its protein and calcium rich properties that aid in energy and hunger management. Its also much healthier for you that milk/dairy products and soy products. Dairy products add mucus to your body, & are mixed with blood, pus & other chemical agents to make it legally healthy enough for human consumption that ARE NOT labeled and don't have to be. Also, soy is a genetically modified food like product that attacks and weakens your reproductive organs and can lead to cancer in your "family jewels". It heightens estrogen levels and can cause some serious damage to both men and women. Stay clear from soy based products and do your research! Stick to nature. Almond, hemp & coconut milks are A+++++.
Its vegan, antibacterial, aids in weight loss and the carbs in agave has a Low Glycemic Index (LGI) which provides sweetness without the unpleasant "sugar rush" and unhealthy blood sugar spike caused by other processed and unnatural sweeteners.
I hope you learned something new today with this post and incorporate these new ingredients into other amazing recipes for yourself or have this one in particular to yourself! I don't like to put measurements of what I add in because I do it do preference. You might not like banana as much as I do or avocado, but as long as at least you have a little bit of the mentioned ingredients in your blender wth some ice, you'll get the benefits. Also, I made enough to serve 4 people today so again, you might not have 4 people waiting to be served haha. But I hope you enjoy this and reap the benefits of the magic of GREENS! So many people are not getting enough minerals and greens into their diet and if you can incorporate this as your breakfast in the morning and some of the ingredients in your lunch and/or dinner you'll really be doing yourself some good. Its also perfect if you're feeling a little "backed up" or gaseous lately. It'll help push whatever it is holding you back right out of the way! Ok ok...
